Initial setup (activation settings)

We will guide you through the settings (activation) required when you start using iPhone.
If you have purchased iPhone for the first time or have erased all content and settings, please check the following.

How to set up your iPhone

1 Start screen Slide from left to right on the screen that says "Hello."
2 Language Selection Select "Japanese".
3 Select your country or region Select "Japan".
4 Keyboard Selection Select the keyboard you want to use and click Next.
5 Activation
Select and execute the activation method.
Please select "Connect to iTunes", "Connect to Wi-Fi", or "Mobile Data Connection".
- ※However, "mobile data communication line" may not be available depending on communication conditions, etc.
Connecting to iTunes
1.Press "Connect to iTunes".

2.Press “Continue”.

3.We will connect to iTunes and you will need to wait until activation is complete.
When connecting to Wi-Fi
1.Select the Wi-Fi network you want to use.

2.Enter the password for your Wi-Fi network and select "Connect."

3.Please wait until activation is complete.
When using a mobile data connection
1.If you wait for a while on the Wi-Fi network selection screen, "Use mobile data" will be displayed.

2.Select "Use mobile data."

3.Please wait until activation is complete.
6 Select Location Services
Turn location services on or off as needed.
Turn on location services
1.Select Turn on Location Services.
Turning off location services
1.Click "Turn off Location Services."

2.A confirmation screen will appear, so select "OK".
7 Setting up Touch ID
"Touch ID" refers to a fingerprint authentication sensor that allows you to unlock the lock screen or purchase content from the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store just by touching the home button. If you set up Touch ID here, you will be required to set a passcode in "Step 8".
- ※This setting is only required for Touch ID-compatible devices.
- ※You can set it later.
- 1.Place one of your fingers on the home button.
- 2.Repeatedly place your finger on the Home button and release it until the screen says "Done." When you see the "Done" screen, select "Continue."

Notes

A passcode is a code that you must enter before you can use iPhone (to unlock it).
If you set a passcode, be sure to write it down.
To set a passcode
1.Enter any 6-digit number as your passcode.

2.To confirm, enter the number you selected in step 1 again.
If you do not set a passcode
1.Select Passcode Options.

2.Select "Don't add a passcode."

3.A confirmation screen will appear, so select "Continue".

Select "Set up as new iPhone."
- ※To restore a backup, follow the steps below.
Restoring a backup from iTunes
1.In iTunes, select "Restore from iTunes Backup".

2.Connect to iTunes using the included USB cable.

3.Select "Restore from this backup", check the date and time of the backup data, and select "Continue".

4.Syncing will be completed on iTunes.

5.Slide on iPhone to update.
If a passcode has been set, you will need to enter it.

6.Slide the "Hello" screen.
If a passcode has been set, you will need to enter it.

7.Select Continue.

8.Select "Next" and proceed to "Step 10".
Restoring a backup from iCloud
1.Press "Restore from iCloud Backup".

2.Enter the Apple Account and password where the backup was saved, then click Next.

3.When the "Before Restoration" screen appears, select "Continue".
*If the "Security" screen appears, select "Not now" and press "Next".

4.Check the terms of use and press "Agree".

5.When the confirmation message appears, press "Agree" again.

6.Select the backup data you want to restore.

7.When the password entry screen appears, enter your Apple Account password and click "Next."

8.Slide the "Hello" screen.
If a passcode has been set, you will need to enter it.

9.Select Continue.

10.Enter your Apple Account password and select "Next".

11.When the Find iPhone screen appears, select Use Find iPhone or Don't Use Find iPhone.

12.If the iCloud Drive settings screen appears, tap "Upgrade to iCloud Drive" or "Turn off iCloud Drive."

13.Select "Don't use iCloud Keychain" and proceed to "Step 11."
Transferring data from Android
Data will be transferred using "Yahoo! Easy Backup."

Please check in advance

*To use "Yahoo! Easy Backup", you will need a Yahoo! JAPAN ID and download the application.
*Data backed up using "Yahoo! Easy Backup" is saved to the online "Yahoo! Box."
*When backing up and restoring large amounts of photos or large videos, please use a Wi-Fi environment.

Android Backup Instructions

※Requires Android 4.0 or higher.

1.Select the "Yahoo! Easy Backup" icon and launch the app.

2.Select "Login", enter your Yahoo! JAPAN ID and password, then select "Login".

3.Select Next.

4.Select the "Backup" tab, select the items you want to back up (contacts, images, videos) and turn them ON.

5.Select "Easy Backup START".

6.After a while, "Complete" will be displayed and the backup will be completed. Proceed to "Step 10".

How to restore iPhone

※Requires iOS 8.0 or higher.

※Please complete the initial setup (Step 13) before following these steps.

1.Select the "Yahoo! Easy Backup" icon.

2.If a backup confirmation screen appears, select "OK".

3.Select "Login", enter your Yahoo! JAPAN ID and password, then select "Login".

4.Select "Restore" and select the backup data you want to restore.

5.Select the items you want to restore (contacts, images, videos) and select "Start Restore".

6.When "Complete" is displayed, the restoration is complete.
10 How to set up your Apple Account
Select how you want to set up your Apple Account.
Already registered with Apple Account
When you sign in
※You can set it later.

1.Enter your Apple Account and password.

2.Select "Next" in the top right of the screen.

3.When the following screen appears, tap "Continue".
*If the "Security" screen appears, select "Not now" and then select "Next".

4.Check the terms of use and select "Agree".

5.Click "Agree" again.

6.Please wait as the screen for setting up your Apple Account will appear.

7.If the iCloud Drive settings screen appears, select Upgrade to iCloud Drive or Turn off iCloud Drive.

8.Please wait while your iCloud settings are updated.

9.When asked to select iCloud Keychain, select "Continue" or "Don't use iCloud Keychain." If you select "Don't use iCloud Keychain," proceed to "Step 11."

10.Set a security code to use with iCloud Keychain.
- If you want to use the passcode you set in step 8: Press "Use Passcode" and proceed to step 11.
・To create a new security code: Click "Create a new code" and set any 6-digit number as your security code.

11.Enter a phone number that can receive SMS.

12.Select "Next" in the top right of the screen.
Skip Apple Account setup and proceed
1.Select "Don't have an Apple Account or forgot your account?"

2.Select "Set up later in Settings."

3.A confirmation screen will appear, so select "Do not use."

4.Check the terms of use and select "Agree".

5.Select "Agree" again.
11 Siri settings
- ※It can be set later.
- 1.Select Turn on Siri or Turn on Siri Later.
12 diagnosis The "Diagnostics" screen will be displayed.
Select Send to Apple or Don't Send.
13 "Let's get started!" When you see the message "Let's get started!", the process is complete.
Please slide the screen to use it.

If you cannot use mobile data

If you are unable to use mobile data, please try the following steps.

1 Mobile Data Updates
- 1.Select the Settings icon.
- 2.Select General.
- 3.Press "Information".
- 4.A "Carrier Settings Update" pop-up will appear, select "Update"
- 5.Select the Home button
- 6.If "Y!mobile" is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen, the process is complete.
