Important Notices

  • Call and communication charges overseas are not covered by the domestic rate plan, free communication, various flat-rate services (including flat-rate services such as unlimited data usage), or discount services to which you have subscribed.
  • Depending on the model of device you use, it may be prohibited to bring it into the country/region you are traveling to due to laws and regulations. Please check the regulations of your destination country/region in advance.
  • Depending on the circumstances of the overseas telecommunications carrier or each region, you may not be able to use the service or communication may be unstable even within the service area. If you are planning to travel or stay in each country, please check the regulations of each country in advance.
  • Depending on your contract and the model of your device, some services may not be available.
  • Charges may apply when performing server mail operations overseas (updating lists, deleting emails, etc.) and for some answering machine services.
  • Data communication may occur automatically without the user's operation on the device, such as automatic reception of emails, automatic communication functions of various applications, automatic data synchronization functions on smartphones, and functions for checking the latest software and applications. Depending on the model, the initial setting for emails may be set to automatically "receive all texts," so we recommend changing the setting to "manual reception" to receive only necessary emails according to usage.
  • When making a call overseas, the caller ID displayed to the recipient may not be displayed correctly, such as a phone number that is not yours or a withheld number.
Also, when receiving a call, the caller's phone number may not be displayed correctly.
  • When using collect calls, toll-free calls, credit calls, or prepaid card calls overseas, you may be charged for calls to the country you are staying in addition to the call charges for the service you used.
  • If you call a mobile phone from Japan to a person overseas, the caller in Japan will be charged domestic calling and communication charges.
  • When calling from one mobile phone to another while overseas, the caller will be charged the call and data charges to Japan.
  • If you receive a call at your destination and answer it, you will be charged for the incoming call regardless of the caller.
  • When making a call from a mobile phone that is roaming internationally to another mobile phone that is roaming internationally, the caller is charged the "charge to Japan" and the recipient is charged the "incoming call charge."
  • Charges may also be incurred if you are calling or cannot connect to a caller, or if you fail to connect due to a communication error while using packet communication services (MMS, web, or mobile data communication).
  • If we find that your usage amount has exceeded a certain amount, such as becoming high, we may suspend your service.
  • The Overseas Unlimited Packet Plan will not be applied during the period when the Overseas Anshin Flat Rate Plan is applied.
  • Customers who use the "Unlimited Overseas Packet Data" service can cancel the Overseas Secure Flat Rate service here.
  • Once the plan has started, it cannot be cancelled.
  • You may be able to use some of the services of overseas carriers before the official launch of their services.
In addition, depending on the service content or technical factors of the overseas telecommunications carrier, you may be able to use services of a different generation from the one you have contracted for in Japan.
In this case, you will also need to pay for the service related to the generation you used, and the fee will be incurred at the time you use the service. For S!Mail and Web, the fees are "3G/GSM: 2 yen/1KB" and "5G/4G (LTE): 4 yen/1KB."
Please note that overseas flat-rate packet services may apply depending on the country or region of your destination and your application status, etc. For details on the fees for each overseas flat-rate packet service and overseas calling charges, please click here.

Caution regarding theft and loss

Mobile phones have an IC chip, a USIM card, which records your phone number and other information. (If you use an eSIM, it is embedded in the smartphone itself.) The USIM card/eSIM is also the basis for billing your usage fees. If any charges are incurred due to use by a third party, you will be responsible for these charges. If your mobile phone is stolen or lost, please contact the International Call Center (see below) immediately. Your line will be suspended immediately.

Setting a PIN code: Set a PIN code

USIM cards/eSIM cards have a secret code called a PIN code. Change the PIN code that is set to "9999" at the time of purchase, and set it so that you enter the PIN code when you turn on the power.

  • For details on how to set the PIN code, please refer to the instruction manual.
  • Please be careful not to forget your PIN code. (If you enter the wrong PIN code three times in a row) The PIN lock can be released by entering the PIN unlock code (PUK code). Please contact the International Call Center (see below) for information on the PUK code.

Y!mobile Customer Center
