Notice of termination of 3G service

The service ended in areas other than Ishikawa Prefecture on Monday, April 15, 2024, and in Ishikawa Prefecture on Wednesday, July 31 of the same year.

As LTE services, which are faster and of higher quality than 3G services, have now become widespread, we will terminate our 3G services and move towards more effective use of frequencies.
Please see below for information on customers who will be affected by the 3G service termination, the models affected, and the areas where 4G and 5G services will be available after 3G service ends.

  • * After Thursday, October 12, 2023, we will not be able to accept changes to models that only support 3G services or models that do not support VoLTE services.

Affected customers

This offer applies to customers using models that only support 3G services or models that do not support VoLTE, as well as customers with SIM card only contracts.
If you are using the models listed below, your contract will be automatically cancelled or your service area will be reduced from the day after the automatic cancellation date. If you wish to continue using the service, you will need to change to a model that supports 4G or 5G services before the automatic cancellation date.

Customers with a SIM card only contract who are using a model that only supports 3G services or does not support VoLTE services will be affected, so please check the "To Customers with a SIM card only contract" below.

  • To check whether you will be able to make calls after the end of 3G service for your model, please call a dedicated number (not available to those with corporate contracts).

① Models that will be automatically cancelled (models that only support 3G services)

If you use the models listed below, you will no longer be able to use voice and data communications, and your mobile phone contract will be automatically canceled (hereinafter referred to as "automatic cancellation").

Automatic cancellation date

For customers outside Ishikawa Prefecture: Tuesday, April 16, 2024
Customers living in Ishikawa Prefecture: Thursday, August 1, 2024

  • *Determination will be based on the contract address as of Sunday, April 7, 2024.
  • *Customers whose contracts are automatically canceled will have their service suspended from midnight on the automatic cancellation date.

Billing from April 2024 onwards

There will be no fees associated with automatic cancellation, such as contract cancellation fees, and no mobile communication charges after April 1, 2024.
However, you will still need to pay some fees, such as the device price and "Y!mobile lump-sum payment."

All services and benefits will be cancelled upon automatic cancellation. Please see below for details.

Customers who were unable to change to a rate plan or model that supports 4G/5G services by Wednesday, July 31, 2024, and whose contract was automatically canceled, can re-sign up with the same phone number at a Y Y!mobile shop by Saturday, August 31, 2024.

  • *If you sign up again, you will not be able to use the email address you used with your old PHS ([PHS]pdx.ne.jp, xx.pdx.ne.jp, willcom.com, y-mobile.ne.jp, [3G]wcm.ne.jp, ymobile.ne.jp).

After 3G service ends, if you configure the following settings, you will no longer be able to use the VoLTE service and will not be able to make voice calls.

  • Turn off VoLTE service

  • You can set it in one of the following ways:
    • ・ "Settings" → "Mobile Communications" → "Voice and Data" → Turn on "VoLTE"
    • ・ "Settings" → "Mobile Communications" → "Call Options" → Turn on "4G" → Check "Voice and Data"
  • * "VoLTE" may not be displayed depending on your iPhone model and iOS version.
    If "VoLTE" is not displayed, the VoLTE calling setting is already enabled and no action is required.

  • You can set it in one of the following ways:
    • ・ "Settings" → "Network and Internet" → "Mobile network" → Check "Calls over 4G line" *
    • ・ "Settings" → "Network and Internet" → "SIM" → Check "Calls via 4G line" *
  • Mobile data settings
  • If the mobile data communication setting is turned off on the following models, you will not be able to make calls using the VoLTE service.
    Applicable models: 402SH/403SH/404SH/502KC/503KC/507SH/Android One S1/NEXUS 5X/NEXUS 6P
    (For other models, you can make calls using the VoLTE service even if the mobile data communication setting is turned off.)
  • You can set it in one of the following ways:
    • Go to "Settings" → "Network and Internet" → "Mobile Network" → "Mobile Data"
    • ・ Go to "Settings" → "Wireless & Networks" → "Data Usage" → "Mobile Data" and select "OK"
  • *The above is an example of settings for a representative model.

4G mobile phone
  • How to set up VoLTE service
  • Both of the following two settings are required.
    • - Settings → Wireless & Networks → Mobile Networks → Select 4G/3G/GSM → Set to 4G/3G/GSM or 4G/3G.
    • → Phone functions → Call settings → 4G calls (display)
      Every time you make a call using 4G, the)/invalid() will switch.
  • Mobile data settings
  • If the mobile data communication setting is turned off on the following models, you will not be able to make calls using the VoLTE service.
    Applicable models: 702KC
    (For other models, you can make calls using the VoLTE service even if the mobile data communication setting is turned off.)
  • You can set it up in the following way:
    • → Settings → Wireless & Networks → Data Usage → Set Mobile Data to OK
      Every time you interact with mobile data, you will be prompted to select)/Cancellation() will switch.

For SIM card only contract customers

Customers with a contract for a SIM card only may not be able to use the service or the service area may be reduced depending on the frequencies supported by their device.

Video Call

Due to the termination of 3G services, Video Calls will no longer be available.

Regarding the impact of automatic cancellation on the Family Discount Service (secondary line)

  • ① If the main line of the Family Discount Service is automatically canceled after the 3G service ends, the discount for the secondary line of the Family Discount Service that you subscribed to along with the main line will end for use in April 2024.
  • ② If there are two or more secondary lines linked to a main line, we will reorganize the family discount.
    The discounts for the reconfigured secondary line will continue for usage from May 2024 onwards.
    After reconfiguration, priority will be given to the line that will be eligible for the discount as a secondary line, with the line offering the largest discount.
  • ●If you wish to change your main line after the reconfiguration, you can do so at your nearest Y!mobile shop after May 1, 2024.

Regarding the impact of automatic cancellation of EMOBILE Hikari

If your line using one of the following plans is automatically cancelled due to the end of 3G service, EMOBILE Hikari* will also be cancelled at the same time, but billing for "FLET'S" services will continue.

  • * EMOBILE Hikari is an Internet connection service provided for "FLET'S" services. "FLET'S" services are the Internet connection services "FLET'S Hikari" and "FLET'S ADSL" provided by NTT East/NTT West. Please contact NTT East/NTT West for details of your "FLET'S" service contract.

Even if EMOBILE Hikari becomes unavailable, monthly fees for the "FLET'S" service and other charges will continue to be billed to you by NTT East/NTT West, and you will be required to pay them to NTT East/NTT West.
If you wish to continue using the "FLET'S" service, you will need to enter into a separate contract with a provider.
