Manners

To ensure a pleasant experience for everyone, please communicate with ease using your manners.

Stop using your smartphone while walking

It is extremely dangerous to walk while looking at the screen of a smartphone or mobile phone.
Being careless about your surroundings can lead to accidents such as falling down stairs or onto a train platform, or being hit by a bicycle or car. It can also lead to accidents that involve not only you, but those around you.
Refrain from making calls or operating your phone while walking or moving.

Do not use while driving

  • Under the Road Traffic Act, it is prohibited to use a mobile phone while driving a car.
Also, since November 2004, penalties (fines of up to 50,000 yen) have been imposed on the use of a mobile phone while driving.
While driving, switch to safe driving mode or an answering machine service, and even if you are using an earphone microphone or hands-free kit, please stop your car in a safe place before making calls or sending emails.
  • Using this device while riding a bicycle is a nuisance to those around you and is extremely dangerous.
Please park in a safe place where you will not obstruct traffic.

When using a mobile phone with a camera...

  • When taking pictures using a camera phone, be sure to take into consideration copyrights, portrait rights, and privacy.
Avoid using it in places where cameras or photography are prohibited, such as concert venues or museum exhibits.

Effects of radio waves on medical devices

  • There are various electrical medical devices in hospitals, and their operation may be affected by radio waves from mobile phones and other devices.
  • When on a crowded train or near a priority seat, please be considerate of nearby passengers and people with pacemakers and turn off your mobile phone.

Internet etiquette

  • Since the Internet is used by many people around the world, courtesy and manners are even more important than in everyday life. Small expressions can lead to misunderstandings and become the source of arguments, so be sure to choose your words carefully and try not to offend others.

Regarding use by children

  • When children use mobile phones, we recommend that parents discuss with their children the rules and etiquette for use so that they learn how to use the phone safely and correctly.
  • For more information, please visit the website of the Telecommunications Carriers Association (http://www.tca.or.jp/mobile/child.html).
