What you need to prepare

If you are switching from Docomo, au, Rakuten Mobile, or other MVNOs other than SoftBank, you will need to have an MNP reservation number issued. Please request this from the MNP reservation desk of your current mobile phone company before applying.

  • *Online applications require a 10 day validity period.
  • *When transferring your number from SoftBank, you do not need to issue an MNP reservation number.
  • *For some models, we do not accept transfers from MVNOs that use SoftBank lines.
  • * Depending on the carrier from which you are transferring, you may be able to complete the procedure at the online store using a method that does not require an MNP reservation number (one-stop).

Prepare your payment

If you are switching from SoftBank and would like to keep your payment method from SoftBank, you do not need to prepare any payment methods.

  • * * If the monthly payment method you are carrying over is a credit card, you cannot pay the device fee (lump sum payment) with a credit card.
    If you would like to pay for the device with a credit card, please set up a new monthly payment method or purchase the device in installments.
  • *When changing handsets, the bill for monthly payment will be continued from the information of the previous contract.
  • *Transfer is not possible in the following cases.
    • - If the contract holder/payer/billing address are not the same person.
    • ・If your payment method with SoftBank is other than credit card, direct debit, or automatic postal payment.
    • ・If the invoice is paid at the counter.

Credit card payments

A credit card is required.

Please refer to the list below for card companies that can be used for initial fees and monthly payments.

  • *If you use a debit card, it may take several months for the refund to be made if there is an error in your application or if your application is cancelled.
  • *When changing handsets, the bill for monthly payment will be continued from the information of the previous contract.
  • *Credit cards issued under the name of a corporation cannot be used for payment.

In case of direct debit

You will need your bankbook or cash card.

Please check here for financial institutions that accept direct debit payments.

If the contract holder and the credit card holder (payer) are different, the following documents are required.

Identification documents

When applying, you will need to send us an image of your identity document to verify your identity.
However, identification documents are not required in the following cases:

  • - If you log in with your My SoftBank account when transferring your number from SoftBank.
  • ・If you log in with your My Y!mobile account when changing your model.
Please bring one of the following identification documents (1 to 10).
  • 1. Driver's license
  • 2. Japanese passport
  • 3. My Number Card (Personal Number Card)
  • 4. Resident registration card + utility bill receipt or residence certificate
  • 5. Physical disability certificate
  • 6. Rehabilitation record book
  • 7. Mental Health and Welfare Handbook
  • 8. Special permanent resident certificate
  • 9. Residence Card (Status: Permanent Resident/Highly Skilled Professional No. 2)
  • 10. Residence card (status: permanent resident/other than highly skilled professional No. 2) + foreign passport
  • *Please prepare identification documents that can verify the user's age, or a student ID or student handbook.
  • *If you purchase only accessories, you do not need to send identification documents.
  • *If you are a foreign national and would like to choose installment payment when purchasing a device, your period of stay must be within the installment payment period. Therefore, please prepare one of the above identification documents (8), (9), or (10). Please check "Uploading identification documents".

Please upload the image file of your identity verification document when you apply. If there are any problems with the documents, we will contact you by phone.

Family identification documents

When applying for a secondary line for the Family Discount Service, you will need a Family Discount Service Agreement and identification documents that prove that the contract holder is the primary line holder and a family member. Please see above for details on identification documents.

  • *Definition of family: Family members (blood ties or marriage) or living in the same address (sharing the same household) can be confirmed.
  • *If the name of the secondary line is the same as that of the main line, it is not necessary to submit a Family Discount Service Agreement or family verification documents.

  • Identification documents for both the contract holder (secondary line) and the main line that confirm that they have the same address

Family identification documents (if you live separately)

  • Identification documents for both the contract holder (secondary line) and the main line, and one of the following documents proving that they are family members (the relevant persons are listed on the same certificate and must have been issued within the last 3 months)
    • ・Family register
    • ・Certificate of residence
    • - Documents proving same-sex partnership
    • ・Health insurance card with each family member's name on one page

[Note] When uploading family verification documents to the online store,Please upload your "My Number (individual number)", "Registered domicile" and "Gender" with blank paper or other covering (masking). If the relevant sections are not covered, the document will be discarded and you will not be able to apply.

Documented verification of same-sex partnership

These include certificates, copies of affidavits, and receipts issued by each local government, which include the following conditions:

  • The subject is listed on the same certificate
  • The name of the person in question matches the information in the application
  • If your local government issues a receipt, you will also need one
  • *Names vary depending on the local government.

Verification by health insurance card

The conditions for a health insurance card to be used as family verification document are as follows:

  • The names of your family members must be listed on your insurance card
  • The date of issue must be stated
  • If there is an expiration date, it must be within the expiration date.
  • ※ Regarding confirmation using the "Remote Area Insurance Card"
  • If all family members joining are listed, one form will be accepted.
  • If not all family members are listed, please provide each family member's remote health insurance card and identification document.

[Note] Please bring your health insurance card.Please upload the following documents with the insurer number, symbol/number, gender, organ donation section, QR code (only if provided), and branch number (only if provided) covered with blank paper. Also, be sure to upload the back side of the document as an additional document.
If the relevant areas are not covered, the document will be discarded and you will not be able to apply.

  • *Please make sure that the date of issue, insurer's address, and insurance name are visible in the photo.

  • *Currently, the iPhone service "Bring-in Device Warranty with AppleCare Services" is not available through My Y!mobile. Please apply at the store when you sign up for the SIM/eSIM contract.
  • * You can apply for the "Bring Your Own Device Warranty" for those who use tablets, including Android/iPad.
