The Fire and Disaster Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will send out emergency alert emails containing information on civil protection announced by the government.
The specific content of the messages will be information calling for caution in affected areas when an external armed attack on a country or a large-scale terrorist attack is imminent or has occurred.

Situations anticipated as information for civil protection

Armed attack situation

The Basic Guidelines for the Protection of Citizens envisage the following four types:

  • In the case of an amphibious invasion
  • In the case of a ballistic missile attack
  • In the case of attacks by guerrillas or special forces
  • In case of an air attack

Emergency response situation

Depending on the target facility and the means of attack, the following four cases are envisioned.

  • An attack on facilities that contain potentially dangerous substances
  • Attacks against facilities where large numbers of people gather and mass transportation systems
  • An attack using a substance or other material capable of killing or injuring a large number of people
  • Attacks using transportation as a means of destruction

Things to know when receiving

If you're indoors

  • Close all the doors and windows.
  • Turn off the gas, water, and ventilation fans.
  • Sit away from doors, walls, and glass windows.

If you are outdoors

  • Take refuge indoors, such as in a nearby sturdy building or underground mall.
  • If you are driving a car, please park your vehicle off the road if possible.
    If it is unavoidable to evacuate on a road, please park your car along the left edge of the road with the key still in the ignition, so as not to obstruct emergency vehicles.

Others

  • Listen carefully to warnings and other information transmitted via television, radio, etc., and make an effort to gather information.
