Emergency alert email is a service that simultaneously notifies customers in a target area of "Emergency Earthquake Alerts" and "Tsunami Warnings" issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency, as well as "Disaster and Evacuation Information" issued by national and local governments.

Changes to the delivery of "emergency warnings" via emergency alert emails

As announced by the Japan Meteorological Agency, as of 2:00 p.m. on December 26, 2022, the Japan Meteorological Agency will no longer distribute special warnings via emergency alert emails, and special warnings will now be distributed by local governments.

Please note that this change will not require any changes to settings on your mobile phones.

  • ※Emergency alert emails can only be received within Japan.
  • ※You will not be able to receive emails when your device is turned off or when the emergency alert email function is turned off.
  • ※Reception may not be possible during a call, data communication, or in areas with poor signal strength.
  • ※Even with an emergency earthquake alert, it is not guaranteed that you will receive it before you feel the shaking of an earthquake.
  • ※We are not liable for any damages arising from the content of emergency alert emails or from receiving or not receiving emergency alert emails.
