The emergency alert email "Tsunami Warning" does not distinguish between a tsunami warning (large tsunami) and a tsunami warning (tsunami).
In addition, we will not provide information regarding the expected arrival time of a tsunami, the expected height of a tsunami, updates or cancellations of tsunami warnings (large tsunami, tsunami), or tsunami advisories. • If the epicenter is close to land, a tsunami warning may not be issued in time for the tsunami to strike. If you feel strong shaking or even weak, long shaking, begin evacuating immediately.
  • Tsunamis may be higher than expected in certain areas due to the coastal topography, etc. Do not assume that you are safe here, but evacuate to higher ground.
  • Tsunamis will strike repeatedly over a long period of time. Please continue to evacuate until the tsunami warning is lifted.
